The New Year got off to a fabulous start with the New Years Waltz on the 2nd January, with blue skies and sunshine 25 teams entered the competition with some great golf being played !.
Calum MacDougall narrowly missed out on a hole -in -one on the 8th but sank his putt for a great 2 ! This along with several other birdies during the round meant his team which also included Oliver Davies and Josh Davies were able to secure the first victory of the year with a team score of 85 pts. The team of Doug Snape, Craig Morrisey and Michael Hooper came a close second with 83 pts.
The Ladies had a friendly over 14 holes which was won by Chris Halpin with 29 pts who narrowly missed out beating the leading Winter Salver Score of 31 pts currently held by Sarah Bevan.
The second Sunday of January saw the start of the Mens Winter League and based on the pace set this is going to be an exciting year !
26 pairs played the first round of the season in a very competitive spirit with two young local men taking the honours with an emphatic win scoring 52 points in a 4BBB format.
1st Oliver Davies and his partner David Richards with 52 points
2nd Richard Williams and Robin Potter with 46 points
3rd Michael Davies and Peter Brickle.
Chris Halpin won the 3rd Winter Salver with 22pts in very cold testing conditions .
The 2nd round of the winter league saw James Greenish and Justin Davies winning with 41pts .
The Ladies Waltz was won by the team of Eileeen Ticehurst, Barbara Phillips and Gwyneth Dunthorne with 42 pts over 14 holes .
With the weather holding up the 3rd round of the winter league took place with week one winners Oliver Davies and David Richards storming to yet another victory with 49pts- can anyone catch them?
